Naresh Gupta chairs DRSC-IV meet DRSC reviews functioning of Social Welfare ART DEPARTMENT JAMMU, NOVEMBER 27: The meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-IV) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council today was held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Naresh Kumar Gupta to review the functioning of the Social Welfare Department and suggested several measures to further improve the working of the department. Legislators, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Mr Abdul Majid Wani, Mrs Rani Gargi Blowria and Sham Lal Bhagat gave their valuable suggestion for improving the department. The Committee threadbare discussed agenda points which include total budget allocation to the department and the expenditure for the last two fiscals under each flagship programmes. It sought the detailed report in this regard with all components district wise to furnish the Committee for its further progress. The Committee directed the authority to ensure that the proper monitoring on pre matric and post matric scholar ships being provided to the students of ST/SC. It also directed that the benefit of the schemes should be reach the genuine students those actually falling under the schemes. The Committee discussed the measures being taken for Strengthening the Women Commission in the State for empowerment of the women folk. It sought tour diary of District and Programme officers of Doda district and what action taken in this regard. The Committee also discussed the functioning of the Backward class Commission like SC, ST, RBA, OBC etc The Committee sought detail on procurement for mid-day meals in Anganwari centres, besides stresses for proper checking of stores in the State. The other issues related to the department were also discussed in the meeting which are total number of pending pension cases of various welfare schemes, working of Anganwari Centres and opening of new ones, Reserved posts of different criterias filled up by the department through PSC/SSB etc. and sought action taken report in this regard. Secretary, SWD, Mr M. S. Rather, Secretary, BCC, Mr. G. H. Wani, Secretary, G&B Advisory Board, Mr Lateef Ahmed Poswal, Secretary, SC, Advisory Board, Mr Sham Lal, Secretary, Advisory Board for OBCs, Dr Basharat Hussain, MD, JKWDC, Dr Naheed Soz, Executive Director, Rehabilitation Council, Mrs Hafiza Muzaffer, Director, Social Welfare, Jammu, Mr M. H. Bhatti, and other senior officers of social welfare department besides officers and official of Council Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
