Nasa warns planet earth will experience six days of near total darkness this December Sunday, 02 November 2014 16:21 AMERICAN aerospace research agency the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) has warned that planet earth will experience six days of almost complete darkness between December 11 and 22 this year. In what Nasa is predicting will be one of the darkest run-ins to Christmas ever, it says that days will be exceptionally short between Tuesday December 16 and the following Monday. During these three days, ther world will remain without sunlight due to a solar storm, which will cause dust and space debris to become plentiful and thus, block 90% of regular sunlight. Charles Bolden, the head of Nasa who made the announcement asked everyone to remain calm during the period. He added it will be the product of a solar storm, the largest in the last 250 years for a period of 216 hours total. Despite the six days of darkness, Nasa officials say that the earth will not experience any major problems since six days of darkness is nowhere near enough to cause major damage to anything. “We will solely rely on artificial light for the six days, which is not a problem at all, said Nasa scientist Earl Godoy.
