Nasir El-Rufai is a clown. The haste at which he wants to conclude that he has found the sponsors of Boko Haram defies common sense. I will start from Ihejerika, to Ali Modu Sheriff, then back to the Australlian negotiator. General Ihejerika is an Igbo man. Before he was appointed as Chief of Defence Staff, Boko Haram existed. How on earth will Boko Haram be linked with Ihejerika? Reason: Nasir El-Rufai wants to make it look like Boko Haram is a Christian and Muslim franchise. An idea being propagated by the school of thought that believes that Boko Haram has nothing to do with Islam. I have read the news, the Australlian did not mention names but said Nigerian politicians were among the sponsors of Boko Haram. We have mentioned in Nigeria that Nigerian politicians sponsor Boko Haram severally. Who doesnt know? Isnt it obvious? Before they became radicalized some Boko Haram members were in Ali Modu Sheriffs government. People like Baba Fugu, commissioner of Pilgrim Affairs of Borno State during the time of Ali Modu Sheriff, resigned from the government. He told Ali Modu Sheriff that government is haram and attempted to preach and convert the governor to Boko Haram. Ali Modu Sheriff in my view was not actually a member of Boko Haram. He just wanted to exploit their popularity for his political gains. He may have given them money until they turned completely rogue. The Australlian is right in my view, but he did not mention names. He didnt say anything new. He stated the obvious. Nasir El-Rufais tactics to drag Ihejerika into the whole imbroglio is the same denial and deception by some Northern Nigerian elite that makes this whole problem diffcult to solve. People like Nasir El-Rufai want to change or distort the definition of Boko Haram. This is poignant, ludicros and sad. -George Onmonya Daniel
