A new mathematics examination body, which is yet to be named, has been established. This is becausethe math syllabus and methods approved by WAEC have been found to be inaccurate in the Nigerian context. A new syllabus has been announced and the effect isbackdated. Consequently the grades awarded in mathematics by WAEC to Nigerians from the inception of the examination body in 1952 up to 2013 are no longer acceptable in Nigeria. Therefore, every certificate awarded within the period has been recalled. The new examination bodythough unnamed has directed that every teacher who has ever taught arithmetic in Nigerian elementary schools and mathematics in primary and secondary schools must apologize for having taught inaccurate arithmetic. It has also directed that every Nigerian university that has awarded a degree in mathematics or in any discipline that has used thehitherto acceptable rules ofmathematics particularly inrelation to equations and inequalities must review and if possible, recall that degree. These hard-line decisions are coming in the wake of the changing rules of mathematics in view of thediscovery of a new approach to the subject by certain Nigerian geniuses. This new approach has brought about the creationof a new topic called Simultaneous Disequation. It has directed that every Nigerian must therefore return his/her WAEC certificate whether it is named SSC or WASSC. New certificates will be issued insitu upon the successful re-take of the examination in which only one questionwill be asked. The questionwill be based on this newlydiscovered approach to mathematics also known as Anomalous Inequalities. The examination is restricted to Nigerians because the new rule has so far been found to apply only in Nigeria. As soon as it is proven to be applicable in other countries, their various examination and professional bodies will take a cue from Nigeria. However, in order to ensure that everyone gets back his/her certificate as soon as it is returned so as to forestall the human resource crises the new development could present, the new examination body has released a preview of the examination question as well as the answer and marking scheme. In other words, the new body has released expo ahead of theexamination. The question that will be asked is presented below: 16 >19 and 5 > 27. Prove it. The answer and the workings are presented below along with the marks allotted for each step. Note that this genre of mathematics makes use of historical and other data.Every Nigerian is advised tostudy it carefully as strict adherence to the steps is required: _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Step 1: State the problem… 10 Marks 16 > 19 … Disequation 1 5 > 27 … Disequation 2 Step 2: State Condition for Simultaneous Disequation… 10 Marks i. If it involves politics ii. If it involves the president and a governor. iii. If the political party involved is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where the president is the leader of the party such that in the reckoning of theparty, president > governor. iv. If there is clash of political interests between the president and the governor such that pro-president = anti-governor and pro-governor = anti-president (The principle is:“The enemy of my friend is my enemy”). v. If there is a precedent of the occurrence of disequation relating to the party, then 16 > 19 and 5 > 27 Step 3: Highlight Factors and Variables … 10 Marks • Factors: Governor Rotimi Amaechi, President Goodluck Jonathan (with Goodluck Jonathan out of the country on the two occasions) • Variables from Disequation 1: Governor Jonah Jang and 15 Pro-Jang Governors, Governor Rotimi Amaechi and 18 pro-Amaechi governors • Variables from Disequation 2: 5 Anti-Amaechi lawmakers particularly Evans Bipi, 27 Pro-Amaechi lawmakers (particularly, Otelemaba Dan Amachree). Step 4: Test the Cases for Satisfaction of the Conditions for Disequation… 20 Marks Condition 1: It involves politics. Condition 2: It involves President Jonathan and Governor Amaechi. Condition 3: The political party involved is the PDP, therefore, President Jonathan > Governor Amaechi. Condition 4: There is clash of political interests between President Jonathan and Governor Amaechi. Proof of Condition 4: i. In spite of the denials by the presidency of the existence of a feud between Jonathan and Amaechi due to clash of political interests, events clearly show that there is an ongoing political battle. ii. It has been linked to Amaechi’s rumoured interest in the 2015 elections as vice-presidential candidate to Sule Lamidoor Babangida Aliu.
