Naso is the largest portion of the Torah, and therefore gives us - TopicsExpress

Naso is the largest portion of the Torah, and therefore gives us even more energy and a greater connection to the divine as it uplifts us. One of the beautiful qualities about studying the Torah is that it is endless; there are always fresh new insights that shine forth. There is a nice story relating to the idea of study, learning, and being a continual student of the truth. A young man went off into the woods and lived in isolation for fourteen years studying the Torah. When he returned, he felt he completely comprehended it and did not require a master, or the like. However, his uncle insisted that he meet Reb Zusha. When he came to Reb Zusha, the elderly rabbi greeted the young man and declared, “Anyone who thinks of himself as ‘I am he’ will not see the true word of God.” The young man immediately understood. Anyone who is filled with pride or ego cannot truly experience the light of the Divine. He then became a student of Reb Zusha. So, the real student of Torah never calls himself a kabbalist or a Torah scholar, but at best merely a student of Torah or a student of kabbalah. In this way, we are always open to the light coming through to us. Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD Torah as a Guide to Enlightenment (Parsha Naso)
