Nathan Williams, a Ph.D. student in Carnegie Mellon Universitys Department of Engineering and Public Policy, is using a seed grant from the Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation to bring electricity to rural areas in Rwanda. Williams, alongside students from CMU-Rwanda, is exploring the use of Rwandas numerous cell towers to develop microgrids that will electrify regions far from established power grids. ow.ly/CUW8I
