Nation needs Valour and Courage of September 1965 to confront the Present Day Challenges: Says NA Speaker - September 5, 2013 Islamabad: September 5, 2013; Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker National Assembly has said that the commemoration of September 6 revives our spirits and strengthens our determination to defend the country against all kinds of threats and to be always prepared for any sacrifice for its integrity and honor. In his message to nation on Defence Day, being celebrated today, the Speaker said that the Defence of Pakistan Day reminds the resolute courage of the people and the armed forces of Pakistan in thwarting the nefarious designs of the enemy, much superior in size and equipment. The demonstration of unswerving spirit and unflinching resolve to defend the motherland were the hallmark of all battles on land, sea and air, he said. The Speaker said that let us recall with pride and admiration the brave deeds of our Shaheeds and Ghazis who wrote an inspiring saga of courage and bravery in the skies of this region. We pay our special respect to those who are no longer with us to share their tales of glory. The Speaker said that Pakistan is facing gigantic and myriad challenges and is passing through a critical period of history. Our security is challenged by multi-dimensional and multi-directional threats. He said that it is not the first time that our nation is confronted with serious challenges but the Pakistani Nation has always braced formidable challenges with unity and courage. The Speaker said that with the proverbial resilience of our people, we are destined to overcome the present challenges and will soon emerge as a stronger country. “Let us work untiringly to promote unity, solidarity and cohesiveness in ourselves and make Pakistan an economically and militarily strong country, enjoying its rightful place in the comity of nations,” the Speaker said. The Speaker said Pakistan is a peace-loving country therefore would not entertain any aggressive or expansionist designs against anyone. The Speaker said that renew the pledge on this day to uphold the integrity, dignity, honour and sovereignty of the country at all cost. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the strength and vision to fulfill our obligations to the nation to the best of our abilities and in line with the expectations of the people of Pakistan!
