National Cycling Association Defers Congress The much trumpeted Sierra Leone National cycling Association Elective congress slated for Sunday 25th January 2015 has been deferred until further notice. This decision was unanimously reached by the incumbent executive led by Winston D C Crowther in consonance with the general membership. Winston D C Crowther, President of the National Cycling Association said they were unable to complete the nomination for various positions including the presidency. Crowther said on Sunday 4th January during a meeting which was the last day for nomination according to the constitution which stated that all nomination forms should be completed three weeks to elections. He maintained that according to Chapter 3, Article 9;7 nomination for offices must be submitted at least 21 days to congress by two fully paid up members. This was not fulfilled because there were some problems during the meeting. Crowther said that he has contacted the National Sports Council on the issue and he is expecting to hold a meeting with them to advise on a new election date that would be communicated to members including aspirants. He said despite the Ebola crisis, he has decided to go ahead with the elections that are held in every four years and revealed that during the elective congress, cyclists in the provinces would also cast their votes. He concluded that in the past four years, the Association has developed with President Ernest Bai Koroma placing them amongst the best three sporting Associations in the country in 2014.
