National Forecast from Met Eireann Issued 10 December 2014 16:19 Today Remaining windy and cold overnight with further heavy showers, turning wintry at times with snow falling on the higher ground. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees with frost in places. Blustery westerly winds. Tomorrow Bright and cold tomorrow morning with further wintry showers, but less windy than today. Cloud increasing during the afternoon as rain spreads from the southwest, reaching all parts of the country by tomorrow evening. Highest daytime temperatures 4 to 8 degrees. Outlook Heavy rain will move into the southwest of the country early on Thursday night. It will spread eastwards overnight, but colder conditions will move into the northern half of the country with the rain here turning wintry in parts of Ulster and Connacht. A bitterly cold night with temperatures falling to between -3 and 0 degrees. A windy night too with strong and gusty westerly winds developing. Very cold on Friday with temperatures struggling to reach values between 3 and 6. It will be a blustery day with further wintry showers, mainly in parts of the north and northwest, but some will spread further east. Another cold night is on store on Friday night with widespread sub-zero temperatures and frost and icy patches. The wintry showers will continue in northern areas. On Saturday temperatures will increase by a degree or two, with values of 4 to 7 likely. Showers will affect coastal areas, but drier weather will develop inland. Later in the day southwesterly winds will strengthen and rain will move into the west coast. This will cause night time temperatures to be a little higher with values of 1 to 4 as rain sweeps across the country. There will be further outbreaks of rain on Sunday with moderate to fresh westerly winds. It will be a much milder day too with highs of 7 to 10 degrees. Present indications suggest that the unsettled weather will continue into the early days of next week, but both days and nights will be milder, with some spells of rain at times.
