National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, ( ICMR), Kolkata Making a step forward to the “Swachh Bharat” a cherished dream of Mahatma Gandhi, augmented by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, the employees of National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata gathered on October 2, 2014, and took a pledge to keep the Institute, as well as neighborhood clean and habitable. The ceremony was attended by school children from neighboring areas accompanied by their parents. A short lecture was organized reiterating the need to be conscious about personal hygiene and cleanliness, which is a simple yet most important step for prevention of many dreadful diseases, especially enteric diseases and diarrhoea. Seven key elements of prevention of diarrhoeal disease were discussed elaborately. The session was marked by lively informal interaction with the audiences as well.
