National Institute of Homeopathy Details about entrance and eligibilty Eligibility Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English are eligible to apply. She/He should have passed all the five subjects individually and obtained 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates). For the candidates who have appeared for Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination, candidature will be taken into consideration provided that the result of that examination is published before the admission and they have secured the required percentage of marks which has to be substantiated by production of documentary proof. Age - To be eligible for the all India common admission test, the candidate should attain 17 years but not crossed the age of 25 years as on by 31st December, 2014.Those born on or before 31st December, 1989 or after 1st January,1998 are not eligible. Selection : The selection will be made on the basis of an all India written competitive test (Admission Test) to be held at seven centres: Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal. The admission test will be of three hours duration and carrying an aggregate of 200 marks. The pattern of questions will be of multiple choice (single correct answer) type 200 questions - Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions), Biology (60 questions) and General Knowledge (20 questions). Candidate should therefore give their choice of centres in the application form. In case the number of candidates who opt for a particular Centre are less, then the centres at Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal will be cancelled and the candidates will be allotted the second choice of centre. Accordingly candidate who opts for Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal has to mention his / her second choice of Centre of examination from amongst Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Candidates must note that centre of examination once allotted to them shall not be changed and any request for such change will not be entertained at any subsequent stage. Reservation : From this academic year 93 (Ninety three) seats shall be available for admission to the BHMS Course, out of this following seats are reserved for different categories of candidates: (i) Fourteen (14) seats are for the candidates nominated from the following States/Union Territories : Jammu and Kashmir (1), Manipur (1), Meghalaya (1), Mizoram (2), Nagaland (1), Sikkim (1), Tripura (2), Andaman and Nicobar Island (1), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (1), Daman and Diu (1), Lakshadweep (1) and Puducherry (1) (ii) Six (06) seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals of which Five (05) seats are for candidates from Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi Sectoral Technical & Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC) countries nominated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Azad Bhavan, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi and One (01) seat is reserved for Foreign National candidates under self-financing scheme nominated by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. (iii) Ten (10) seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by Govt. of Sri Lanka through the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt.of India. (If no candidates are sponsored by Govt. of Sri Lanka, these seats shall remain vacant; no other candidate will be admitted against these seats). (iv) Two (02) seats are reserved for candidates from Malaysia as per directive of Govt.of India (v) The remaining seats will be filled through All-India Admission Test of three hours duration. The pattern of questions will be of multiple choice types 200 questions – Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions), Biology (60 questions) and General Knowledge (20 questions). There will be Negative marking for wrong answers. (vi) Reservation as per the Govt. of India norms shall be applicable to the remaining sixty one (61) seats. In case of candidates claiming reservation under physically challenged category, candidates having locomotor disability, involving the lower limb only shall be eligible. Blind (including colour blind), deaf, and/or dumb candidates are not eligible to apply for the course. Candidates who are desirous of availing reservation facilities under OBC quota are required to enclose attested copy of their OBC certificate issued by appropriate authority along with a declaration that she/he does not belong to creamy layer of the society (for the format see the Institute website and the attested copy must be as prescribed). Application Procedure : Filled in application (in candidate’s own handwriting) is to be sent along with Bank draft for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) in favour of Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, payable at Kolkata (IPO/Cheque/Cash/Money order will not be accepted). No Bank draft is required in case of SC/ST candidates but a copy of caste certificate attested by a Gazetted Officer should accompany the application. Candidates who claim to belong to reserved category, should submit an attested/ certified copy of Caste Certificate along with the filled in application form in support of his/her claim. Candidates are required to enclose two recent, high contrast 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm identical copies of colour photograph, clearily showing full head, face, shoulders and both ears without wearing any cap/hat/glasses, with the application form. Both the photographs should be signed on the reverse by the candidate. Polaroid photo is not acceptable. Photograph must have been taken on or after 28th February, 2014 with a placard indicating the name of the candidate and the date of taking the photograph. The name and date of the photograph must be clear and legible. Two (02) copies of the photographs are to be pasted in the specified area on the application form, which should be attested by a Gazetted Officer after pasting, with part of signature on the photograph and part of signature on the application form. Applications incomplete and/or accompanied by hazy, old or unidentifiable photographs are liable to be rejected without assigning any reason. Candidates must put their full signature in all the places asked for at all the stages of admission process. Candidates need not send the photocopies of testimonials with application (except attested copy of Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST candidates claiming exemption from paying application fee and OBC/Orthopaedically challenged candidates claiming for reservation in admission) but the original Certificates must be submitted for verification if provisionally selected. Result of the qualified candidates will be communicated by post and the merit list will also be available in the NIH website: nih.nic.in List of eligible candidates / their Roll number / name of allotted centre for the All India Admission Test, Result of admission test, List of candidates eligible for Counseling / date of counseling and venue etc. will be available in the Institute website mentioned earlier. Though intimation will be sent by post, candidates are requested to check the website periodically as Institute will not be responsible for non-receipt / delay in receipt of communications sent by post.
