National Institute of Standards and Technology & Underwriters Laboratory Fire Behavior Studies Saturday July 20 0830AM-1530 PM Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus Over the past several years NIST and UL have been working together with the fire service to examine fire dynamics and firefighting tactics. More than a hundred experiments have examined changes in the fire environment and the effect of ventilation and wind on fire suppression activities. This seminar is important for all firefighters but is especially important to company officers and fire chiefs. The NIST and UL studies have produced results that may cause you to reconsider the way you fight a structure fire. Speakers Steve Kerber is the Director of the UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute. He has led fire service research and education in the areas of ventilation, structural collapse, and fire dynamics. Daniel Madrzykowski, PE, FSFPE, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dan has a Masters in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland. He has led research efforts with a focus on improving fire fighter safety. There are a limited number of seats available for this presentation and you must register to attend.
