National Journal highlights Peter’s bipartisan legislation co-authored with Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) that would help coal country workers who have had their communities devastated by the downturn in the coal economy. Here’s what Peter said in his interview with National Journal: My working with David is an acknowledgement from a green-state person that even though I want to move to a cleaner-energy policy, theres real impacts on coal-country workers … My view is that it didnt matter what the reason was, whether the EPA, or mechanization, or market forces, the purpose of this bill is that we want to help workers, not be another vehicle for the back-and-forth argument about the cause of coal-country job loss.”
