National Military Family Association Position Announcement Development/Membership Director The National Military Family Association, a top-rated military charity, is searching for an experienced, creative fundraiser to serve as its Development and Membership Director. We’re looking for a Development/Membership Director who can help us sustain a call to action to the corporate, foundation, and individual donors we need to grow our $4.8 million budget and meet the ever-changing needs of the families we serve. A proven track record in donor cultivation is a must for this candidate as are solid results in sustaining long-term donor relations. Knowledge of the requirements of the various charity rating organizations a plus. We are looking for a candidate who is excited by the opportunity to develop strategies for donor outreach and fund-raising, including initiatives targeting unique donor populations. The candidate must excel in identifying and cultivating new donors, creating connections through events and collaborations, executing effective, multi-dimensional fund-raising campaigns, and using data to evaluate effectiveness of fund-raising initiatives. Additional responsibilities include: 1. Manage a four-member Development/Membership team to cultivate and support donors and members. 2. Expand relationships with affinity partners 3. Engage Association Board members in fundraising initiatives 4. Oversee creation of foundation grant requests and progress reports. 5. Develop fundraising and membership projections for Association budget and report on progress meeting objectives 6. Collaborate with other Association department directors to identify program and initiative funding needs and opportunities 7. Track relevant philanthropic and giving trends in the military charity environment and recommend appropriate Association strategies Qualifications: 1. Five to seven years fundraising and management experience 2. Bachelor’s Degree 3. Excellent oral and written communication skills 4. Ability to work as member of a team 5. Familiarity with the issues facing families of the uniformed services a plus This is a 40-hour salaried position at our headquarters location in Alexandria, VA.
