National Panhellenic Communication Conference Announces Competition for Collegiate Sisters! In honor of its centennial, NPCC is seeking both articles and photographs or illustrations about the value of NPC. There are cash prizes of $500 for the article and $500 for the photograph or illustration judged to be the most outstanding. RULES OF THE COMPETITION • The competition is open to all undergraduate women who, as of March 3, 2014, are initiated members in good standing of one of the 26 NPC sororities/fraternities. • Submissions must be original, unpublished work. • Each entrant is limited to one submission. • Stories must not exceed 800 words. • Photographs, with descriptive taglines, should be submitted as JPEGs at a minimum size of 5X7 (or 7X5) inches at 300 pixels per inch; larger files welcomed but should not exceed 8 MB. • Illustrations, with descriptive taglines, should be at least 8X5 inches and rendered in full color. Submit as an .ai file or as a JPEG at 100% of original size at 300 pixels per inch; larger files welcomed but should not exceed 8 MB. THE TOPIC OF YOUR ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPH OR ILLUSTRATION From your personal experiences and observations as a current undergraduate Panhellenic sister, describe in words or depict in a photograph or illustration how your Panhellenic experience has impacted your life, your campus, and/or your community. HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY •Submissions and questions should be emailed to npcc100years@gmail. All submissions will be acknowledged. • Each entry must include author/photographer/illustrator’s name, address, phone number, email, a 50-word biography, sorority and school affiliations, and say “anniversary entry” in the subject line. • Entries will be accepted through January 31, 2014 at 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time. JUDGING and ANNOUNCMENT OF WINNERS •A panel of impartial NPCC members will select two winners: one for writing, one for photography/illustration; each will be awarded a $500 cash prize and their work will be considered for publication in any or all of the 26 NPC magazines and on social media and web sites. Winning entries may also be considered for use by any local or national NPC organization.* • Winners will be announced on Monday, March 3, 2014. •Non-winning entries will be forwarded to the national communications departments of the entrants’ fraternity/sorority to be used in whatever manner deemed appropriate.* *All use is at the discretion of and subject to editing by each NPC organization.
