National Pollution Control Day. NPCD is observed every 2nd December of the year to remember Bhopal tragedy where about 500000 people died during and after the accident because of the poisonous gas MIC. Indians have almost forgotten this major industrial accident in history. All citizens are requested to observe this day and also take pledge to make this country pollution free. How much Jammu city and other towns are polluted please see the visuals of dumping sites of Udhampur city, Kishtwar town, Leh town and Dal Lake. Jammu city generates about 500 to 700 tons municipal waste /garbage every day. CPCB and Down to Earth in their report has rated Jammu city as one of the most polluted city in the country. Also see the pollution on glaciers in alpine regions of the state due to uncontrolled and unregulated Tourism.
