National Resistance Movement Office of the Secretary General PRESS STATEMENT ========================================================== The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has commenced with the pre-Conference registration and security screening of Delegates to the Second Meeting of its Second National Conference slated for 15th December 2014. As you now all know, the Conference will be preceded by the Meetings of the Central Executive Committee and the National Executive Council on the 13th and 14th of December 2014, respectively. The NRM expects to host about 10,000 Delegates in Kampala for these meetings. The Accreditation and Security Committee is finalizing with the verification of individual Delegates across the country, which exercise is being overseen by Party officials and state security agencies. In Kampala, the Committee has commenced with pre-Conference registration for the first meetings whose members are within easy reach. For example, communication has been made to members of CEC, on this subject. All delegates to the various meetings will be given special accreditation passes. Also, delegates and Party Members should be notified that all official communication regarding the conference will be made strictly from the Organising Committee, which is headed by the Ag. Secretary General. There should be no confusion or disinformation amongst members of the general public or Party supporters, arising out of communication from any other sources. Once again, let me emphasize that the National Conference is specifically convened for NRM Delegates as spelt out in the NRM Party Constitution. These are: a) The National Chairperson b) The 1st National Vice Chairperson c) The 2nd National Vice Chairperson (female) d) Six (6) Vice Chairpersons representing the Regions of Uganda – East, Central, North, West, Kampala and Karamoja e) Members of the National Executive Council f) The Secretary General g) The National Treasurer h) The Deputy Secretary General i) The Deputy National Treasurer j) Members of the NRM Municipal Executive Committees k) Members of the NRM Municipal Councils l) Promoters of the NRM Organisation m) Executive Committees of the NRM Branches in the Diaspora n) NRM National Secretaries o) NRM Members of Parliament p) NRM members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) q) Members of NRM Historical Leaders Forum r) Members of the National Executive Committees of all Special Organs other than (p) above s) NRM Chairpersons of Districts t) NRM Parliamentary flag bearers u) NRM flag bearers for district chairpersons v) Municipality mayors w) Members of NRM District Executive Committees x) Members of the District Executive Committees of all Special Organs y) NRM Members on District Councils z) Chairpersons of Sub-County Conferences In addition to the above, the Chairperson may invite not more than twenty (20) individuals who have made a special contribution to the struggle or who have special skills or experience to attend the Conference as observers. We want to assure the general public and members of the party this is a constitutional meeting whose attendance is as spelt out as above. No one is at liberty to tamper with this attendance. Members of the NRM in particular, should understand this. There is no attempt, deliberate or otherwise, to exclude any group.
