National Weather Service Issues Weather Information Moisture - TopicsExpress

National Weather Service Issues Weather Information Moisture (in part from Hurricane Marie) will increase markedly Monday and Tuesday and lead to thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain and flash flooding across all of SE AZ. Confidence of timing for any given area is fairly low, but the initial thinking is counties near the International border are most prone to see heavy rain Monday evening with areas farther north more likely to be affected Tuesday. Hazards/Impacts: • HEAVY RAIN of 1-2”/hour will cause visibilities near zero for motorists. Isolated rain totals of 3-4” possible. • FLASH FLOODING of washes and roadways and strong flows in larger stream beds likely. • THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS to 50 mph could cause minor structural, power line and tree damage. Timing: Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. Confidence: HIGH for heavy rain and flash flooding. MODERATE for damaging winds. Please be safe out there!
