National weather service, Fox 11 weather, you all SUCK! Weather repor yesterday for today called for high winds, 20 mph by 3 pm...I dont bow hunt in 15-20mph wind but that didnt happen today, it was perfect 5 mph wind for bow hunting! So I went out and found a tree to climb, get my climber ready and just after I climb into the climber my back tag falls off. Climb down, take off my jacket, get my back tag legally displayed on my back again, turn around and here comes two punk kids who walk right up. One asks, You hunt here often? Yea, hunt here a lot, was here yesterday too. O, Well were going way to the back. Is that your ground blind back there then that the Warden was asking me about yesterday? No. NO. Why? Whats wrong with a ground blind? Um, you cant leave any ground blinds stands or anything on public land over night. Well thats stupid! Yea, its also a pretty big fine and I wouldnt doubt the warden put trail cams up to see whos using that blind. They scurried off pretty quick, Im laughing to myself because it was pretty obvious that they were freaking out. About 1/2 hour later I see a 3rd hunter walking down the hwy from about the same place the other 2 came from. A bunch of house across the road across the road. This guy goes way around me, takes a trail heading toward the back. Another half hour passs and on the same trail going way around is two guys, now ones got a big pack on his back...like a ground blind. lol 3 go in without packs, two come out, an hour before quitting time, one with a pack and talking on the phone, asking someone if its legal to leave a ground blind in the woods. Its amazing how far a voice carries sometimes. lol That was either their blind or they stole it, either way I bet the one Jeff saw (I never saw it) is now gone. So While Im in my tree hunting, I reach into my pocket that I KNOW I put some new doe scent in, its not there. Neither is my grunt call and bleat call. On my way out I searched by the base of the tree, searched the trail, searched my truck, all around my truck, have no clue what happened to everything in that pocket. Id guess when i was putting my back tag back on, but I searched with a flashlight and found nothing. I was also kind of hanging around to catch the 3rd hunter who, if he stayed on public and had to head back towards the houses, hed have to pass me and my truck thats parked in the ditch. I hung out almost an hour and he never showed. No one crossed the road. Im thinking one of the first two guys was also the 3rd guy. Thinking one snuck around on private land to get back to the houses, maybe to get a key to unlock the ground blind or maybe the carry case? IDK but it would have been more fun watching and shooting deer, instead of dumbasss. On my way home, talking to Jo on the phone, I missed a doe by inchs. Drive a little further and I see a big buck, limping real bad, going pretty slow into a private woods. Drive another few minutes and just before getting to Winneconne I see on the road the entire Winneconne Fire Dept and Police Dept, and several Sheriff, there had to be 50 vehicles all bumper to bumper at a standstill. On coming lane is empty, no one is directing traffic, its a passing zone, no ones passing, no ones coming, everyones just sitting there brain dead..?? After a couple minutes I pull out and start passing cars. Most of the cars/trucks are empty! Lights on, some motors running, some not...Volunteer firefighter vehicles? People lining up for free road kill? I pass the fire trucks, still no ones directing traffic or stopping me, I see a car with a head light out being put on a wrecker hook and firemen in full rubber suits with brooms and speedy dry.... All this for a deer hit. They did the same thing to my sister Tracy when she hit a tiny doe not 3 miles from there. Her truck was leaking a little oil so the Winneconne hazmat team to the rescue. Happy not to see any ambulances, what a crazy night,
