Nation’s TOP JUCO RB Judd commits to Ole Miss Akeem Judd fell in love with Ole Miss when he visited the school last week. And when his weekend visit to Tennessee only reinforced the special feeling he felt while at Ole Miss, Judd decided to verbally commit to the Rebels Saturday night. The news was well-received by Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze. “He was excited,” Judd said. “He said I was the missing piece to the puzzle and that I’m going to do great things at Ole Miss. He said great things were already going on and talked about possible national championships.” Judd is the newest Rebel. The nation’s top-ranked junior college running back from Georgia Military College loved the interaction he had with current Ole Miss players. During his Tennessee visit he loved the coaching staff, but didn’t get much time to hang out with current players. Whereas at Ole Miss, Judd got to meet and hang out with multiple players, including Robert and Denzel Nkemdiche. The Nkemdiche brothers made it a point to make sure Judd felt at home and it played a big role in his decision. “The players don’t have to show you attention or say how much they need you but they did,” he said. “They said you are going to have fun outside of football and that we are all brothers. They were just really cool. I felt like I was already family. Not even just hanging out, but just eating dinner and having fun with conversation.” The Ole Miss coaching staff went all out for Judd because it views him as the big, physical back it currently lacks. The Rebels brought in four running backs in the most recent class, but none possess Judd’s 6-foot, 220-pound size. The coaching staff’s heavy pursuit of Judd is a big reason why he isn’t worried about getting playing time at a deep position on the depth chart. “People are saying that if I went to Tennessee I’d be able to start right away,” he said. “But I’m going to play right away — that’s my goal. My drive, my work ethic and my talent will help me. They wouldn’t be recruiting me as hard as they did if I didn’t have a chance to come in and play right away.” Judd is the fifth prospect to verbally commit to Ole Miss in the last three days. He joins Olive Branch linebacker Alfred Dickens, Bassfield defensive backs Alvin and Calvin Moore and Oxford wide receiver DK Metcalf. Judd said that his recruitment was officially over and that he was a Rebel. He also said that he’ll continue to tell his teammate Quintavious Knight about all of the positives of Ole Miss, but wouldn’t pressure him to commit. Judd said that Knight, who has an offer from the Rebels, does love Ole Miss. The top-ranked running back is currently on pace to graduate in March, but could potentially graduate in December and enroll early. As for early expectations for his career at Ole Miss, Judd wants to rush for 1,000 yards and be an All-American.
