Native America Calling for Tuesday, November 19, 2013 – The Glory of Indian Relay Racing Indian Relay racing is an exhilarating sport that started in Idaho in the Shoshone-Bannock tribes. Have you competed in an Indian Relay race? Men and women compete against other teams around a dirt track for several laps on bareback horses to see who’s the fastest. It’s a mixture of speed, choreography and daring as multiple riders and handlers weave in and out to gain position on the track for each lap. Have you seen an Indian Relay race live? What sporting events are unique to your culture? Guests include: Leo Teton (Shoshone-Bannock) Champion Relay Rider, Wendell Old Horn (Crow) Director of Relay Operations for the Professional Indian Horse Racing Association and Lance Tissidimit (Shoshone-Bannock) Owner Team Tissidimit.
