Native Counselling Services of Alberta is hiring for two positions: FACILITATOR Family Group Conferencing – Edmonton, Alberta Competition No. 1455 Closing Date: July 11th., 2013 Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) is accepting resumes for a full time facilitator for Family Group Conferencing. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating Family Group Conference referrals from Region 6 Child and Family Services Authority and other CFSAs. Orientation and training will be provided for this position along with mentoring support. Family Group Conferencing is a collaborative dispute resolution process which empowers families to develop permanency plans for children who require intervention services. A family conference involves a formal meeting where members of the immediate family come together with extended kin and community members to develop a plan for the child’s short and long term care to Aboriginal families. Skills and Qualifications: • Post secondary education or equivalency. • Group facilitation and basic mediation experience is an asset. • Reliable vehicle, valid Alberta driver’s license with required liability insurance. • Ability to work flexible hours (weekends, evenings) and work independently • Knowledge in Children’s Services and Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act is desired. • Extensive experience working within Aboriginal families and in the Aboriginal communities. • Strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills. • Good working knowledge of computers and their programs. • Must provide recent criminal record check and CYIS . REGIONAL MANAGER Permanent Full Time St.Paul, Alberta Competition No.1454 Closing Date: July 26th., 2013 Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) is a diverse, dynamic non-government organization that is committed to the holistic wellness and equitable treatment of Alberta’s Aboriginal individuals, families and communities since 1970. NCSA is currently seeking an individual to provide support and leadership and oversee a number of programs for the Northeast region of NCSA offices. The successful individual will network, build relationships and partnerships with various community agencies, various departments within government. The Regional Manager will be responsible for supervision of the Aboriginal Court work program (family/ criminal court work); Healthy Families Home Visitation Program and the Family Group Conferencing program. Skills & Qualifications: • A degree, diploma or certificate in Human Services or equivalency. • Knowledge of Native Counselling Services of Alberta history and programs. • Extensive supervisory experience. • Extensive experience working with Aboriginal communities. • Experience working with Social Justice systems. • Extensive knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and Children’s Services mandate. • Strong organizational and administrative skills and effective oral and written communication skills. • Good working knowledge of computers and their programs. • Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s permit and required liability insurance suitable for the position. • Must provide recent Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check. • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, language is a definite asset.
