Native or Indigenous Americans are not Indians or Redskins. Just like Im not African American, I wasnt born in Africa. No one calls white Americans, European Americans on a regular basis, they are referred to as Americans. I think the term African American creates a divide, youre an American. If you were born and raised here and are a legal citizen, youre American. Also if Redskins is deemed as a derogatory term in the dictionary, has been used more as a negative term than good, who is any non-native to tell a race of people to get over objectification? You think itd be cool if there was the Washington Niggers? Id bank on no. Any argument defending the use of Redskins other than you just like the team and/or its been the name for x number of years, will be not taken seriously nor entertained by me.
