Native persimmons are so delicious this time of year. Pop a whole one in your mouth and it just melts into sweet goodness. Of course you spit out the seeds, so this is not an activity for dainty tea parties or formal dinners. To harvest persimmons you just shake the tree. The ripe ones fall to the ground. Dont want your fruit touching the ground? Lay an old sheet under the tree, then shake the persimmons down. By the way, they are kind of squishy. You may want to wear a hat.
