Native plants, often referred to as weeds, have volunteered in and around the building, including the gravel covered lot next door. The gravel is 8 deep but the volunteers are persistent. Try putting a petunia in that environment! I have had to discourage those who would beautify Hammond by pulling, poisoning and cutting the growth on the gravel. They just dont see things through my lens, it is true. But how about these beauties that took hold at the mouth of the downspout this year? Thanks to Dawn Diamantopoulos who identified them yesterday as Butter and Eggs.
