Natural Wonders...(week 2) ...Our travels in Africa this week began with hearing an old African creation story, passed down through generations. After which we shared all things African that we had brought in to show & tell. We looked at clothes, a hat from S Africa, musical instruments especially djembes, jewellery, Zulu earrings, photos, a Nelson Mandela t-shirt which led to a conversation about the great Madiba, 2010 world cup momentoes, a candle, pyramid etc. Our objects and conversations took us to various countries in Africa - Ghana, S Africa, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Kenya etc. After this exploration through our own personal memories of Africa, we then had a go at making our own djembe drums. Finally leading to a group playing of them along to some African background music. Our afternoon ended with another story about how the first people came on the earth.
