Navajo Fog at the put-in at Lees Ferry. ..Freezing on the north side of everything..weird seeing the north side of a tree frozen and the south side dry. We had this fog on top of us for 2.5 days. This was one of my favorite trips..8 days, 225 miles..avg.30 per day. And had one 42 mile day. Met the kids trying to break the speed record of 36 hrs the night before we launched...my hat is off to you guys..missing the record by 1 hr..because of a boat repair. Good on em. Had one of the most fun days of my whitewater career..32 miles of huge rapids...basically the meat rapids of the Grand all in one day. Camped at the top of Hance and paddled to Bass camp. No scouting just bombing. Great group of athletic friends and fun lovers to hang out with. Saw more wildlife than ever..crazy amount or Herons, deer, Mtn goats, ducks, Bald eagles, ...even had an encounter with a ringtail cat...crawling across my legs while in a sleeping bag. Grand Canyon trips are the best!!!
