Navelim LPG dealers accused of harassing customers Alleging that LPG dealers are unnecessarily harassing customers, Navelim civic & consumer forum have filed a complaint with the South Goa district collector, director of civil supplies, chief secretary and regional managers of the LPG companies. The collector had recently stated that there was no reason for customers to panic as the oil companies have allowed a grace period of three months and that the deadline to comply with the Aadhaar card formalities which was supposed to end on August 31, has been extended to November 30. The requirement to avail the subsidy includes linking of Aadhaar cards to their bank accounts and providing Aadhaar card details to the LPG dealers. In a complaint against the oil companies, the forum accused them of threatening people that they will not get LPG cylinder refills at all after the cutoff date. They demanded that the LPG companies should clarify if domestic cooking gas subsidy can be availed if there is no Aadhaar card and that they should stop threatening the consumer who goes for a refill that supply would be stopped if no Aadhaar number is given.
