Navratri Day 7 Mata Kalratri Mata Kalaratri is worshipped on the Seventh Day of Navratri. She is dark and black like night, hence she is called as ‘Kalratri’. Her hairs are unlocked and has three eyes and four hands. while the remaining 2 are in the mudras of “giving” and “protecting”. HER vahana is a faithful donkey. The destroyer of darkness and ignorance. She spills out fire from her nostrils. She holds a sharp Sword in her right hand and blesses her devotees with her lower hand. As she blesses her devotees with prosperity, she is also called as ‘Shubhamkari’. Maa Kalaratri is the seventh Shakti of Maa Durga. The seventh day of Navratri pooja is dedicated to Durga Kalratri. This is the most violent form of Godess Durga. Kalaratri is the one of the fiercest forms of Durga and her appearance itself evokes fear. This form of Goddess is believed to be the destroyer of all demon entities. Kalaratri means the One who is “the Death of Kaal”. Here Kaal is dedicated as time & death. Kalaratri is the one who destroys ignorance and removes darkness. This form primarily depicts that life also has dark side – the violent Mother Nature and creates havoc and removes all dirt. She is also known as Shubhankari.In this form Goddess Kalratri killed Raktabeej. Raktabeej was a demon who could multiply from every drop of his blood which fell on the ground. The Goddess Kaalratri killed him by licking the blood before it could reach the ground and hence conquered him. She endows her devotees with calm and courage. The complexion of Maa Kalaratri is like dark night with bountiful hair and has four hands. The left two hands holds a cleaver and a torch, and the right two are in the mudras of “giving” and “protecting”. She has necklace is so shining like thunder. She has three eyes which emanate rays like lightning. Flames appear through her nostrils when she inhales or exhales air. Appearance of Maa Kalratri is very dangerous. But she always gives good fruits. So devotees should not get afraid of her. Chakra of MataKalaratri: Crown Chakra / Sahastra On this day the mind travels to the Crown Chakra, opening the door of every siddhi in universe. Method of Meditation: Sit comfortably and with eyes closed take your awareness tothe Crown Chakra, where Mata Kalaratri isupon the 1000-petalled-lotus. Visualise Ma open each petal that unfolds the secrets of the Sidhis and powers. Chant the mantra: Om Kalratrayai Namah 108 times. After chanting take your awareness on your breath and visualise the open lotus upon your head and simply be. Governing Planet - Saturn/ Shani Method of Meditation Sit Comfortably with your eyes closed and visualise the dark planet Saturn with its rings. Upon this planet is Ma Kalaratri sending you deep blue rays of Saturn, that awakens you to your life purpose, the need to be humble and be disciplined. As you meditation and chant the mantra: Om Kalratrayai Namah 108 times, keep your head bowed to Ma. After chanting, taking your awareness to your breath, seek forgiveness from Shani Dev and Ma Kalaratri requesting them to breakyou free from the bondage of karma and attachment
