Nawaz Sharif, while addressing the third Nuclear Security summit in The Hague, expressed Pakistan’s desire to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group, the 48-member nuclear export club focused on non-proliferation. If Pakistan’s move materialises, this opportunity will open to us enormous strategic, economic and political recompense. Pakistan will get legitimacy as a responsible democratic country of the global nuclear community and will be considered a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The government should strive to achieve this objective with the crucial help of Muslim countries.
