Nawaz wants to visit Kashmir: Mehbooba Srinagar, July 28: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti Sunday said Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants to visit Kashmir. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the party’s 14th foundation day ceremony, Mehbooba said when she visited Pakistan for the first time to attend a Pugwash conference in March 2008, she had met Sharif at that time had expressed his desire to visit Kashmir. “Nawaz Sharif told me that his family is from Shopian,” said Mehbooba, whose party has a stronghold in the south Kashmir district of Shopian, Pulwama and Anantnag. Mehbooba would again be visiting Pakistan for the Pugwash conference that his scheduled from September 14 to 18. “There is a lot of uncertainty in Pakistan and there is a lot of uncertainty in Kashmir as well,” she said. “I would raise the issue of cross- LoC trade, which has hit the roadblock. Mehbooba said Pugwash conference provides a good opportunity for the mainstream and separatists leaders of the State as well as the leaders from both sides of the Line of Control to sit together and discuss Kashmir and the issues confronting Kashmir. On whether she would invite Sharif to Shopian, Mehbooba said it was too early and just a hypothetical question right now.
