Nearly 160 years ago during the Crimean war in 1854; the French and British forces blockaded the Russian fortification in the Crimean Peninsula after their triumph over the tsar’s army in the Port of Sevastopol in the Alma River. Britain, France and the Ottoman Empire forged their unprecedented alliance after Nicholas I of Russia invaded the naval fleet of the Ottoman Empire in the Black Sea and occupied the Romanian territories of the Empire which included the modern Ukraine.
