Nearly 300 people were at Booth Street today to watch Congleton Town hold Salford City - the club taken over by messyrs Giggs, Scholes, Neville brothers and Butt this summer - to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup preliminary round. Salford fielded star striker Danny Webber, who was playing in the Premier League four years ago, but were unable to find the net due to a brilliant performance by Bears goalkeeper Craig Ellison. At one point in the second half, Ellison made an impossible looking triple save. Though Congleton played to contain Salford, they were still impressive going forward, led by winger Paul Hudson, and substitute striker Brandon Moores would have been disappointed not to score when through on goal in the second half. The replay at Salford is on Tuesday (7.45pm) so get down to support Jim Vinces boys if you can! Full coverage in Thursdays Chronicle.
