Nearly every day on my feed I see so called fit-pros & athletes - TopicsExpress

Nearly every day on my feed I see so called fit-pros & athletes claiming to have the answer to cure cravings. Its simple. Create an effective flow chart describing how certain foods apparently mean youre nutrient deficient & offer nutrient dense alternatives to said cravings. Ok.jpeg. Preaching malnutrition because youre craving something naughty is one thing, but to suggest you should cure said craving with a food that is very clearly going to do nothing but blow your calorie budget & do absolutely NOTHING for said craving is another completely. How on earth is eating a floret of broccoli supposed to make anybody feel better about forgoing a piece of chocolate? How is having a bowl of kale going to squash a burning desire for a cheeseburger? Oh you’re craving chocolate? Eat some broccoli.’ Yeah - I’m pretty sure that isn’t going to work. Ever. There is an obscene mentality going around that the more rigid your dietary guidelines, the more hardcore you become. Restrictive eating patterns & non-sensical dietary requirements are made out to be more optimal even if you’re not looking to take down Phil Heath on the Olympia stage, but let’s not pretend that not eating your favorite foods makes you better than anybody else, nor is it really sustainable. You cant avoid naughty foods your entire life. When did the vast majority of ‘fit-pros’ & ‘experts’ lose sight of the value of moderation & sustainability? If you’re craving chocolate, eat some damn chocolate - having the ability to fit a few cubes into your daily macronutrient requirements when you so choose will mean that you ultimately become the hardcore one. Why? Because you can actually stick to your ‘diet’ for a much longer period of time. This is where so many confuse the principles of flexible dieting. It merely allows for calculated moderation & consistent progress without having to live like a hermit or ever feeling the need to smash the whole block in one sitting. Restrictive eating patterns don’t make sense & more often than not, even contribute to or become the sole reason people within the fitness industry tend to develop such poor relationships with food. Why do you think there are so many ‘cheat meal’ memes? This ‘restrict/ binge’ behaviour is for some reason condoned more often than not within the industry. Common sense is best served liberally. Do you really feel it possible to avoid such naughty foods for the rest of your life? Or are you just going to wait until your next binge & consume the quantity of chocolate you might have eaten over the course of the three months prior had you incorporated a little calculated moderation? Stop spreading garbage.
