Nebula is a feature length science fiction film that asks questions about our future, technology, mining, capitalism, the end of poverty and homelessness, conquest of space, greed, and the long term effects of man in pursuit of riches and ancient knowledge. The film asks what it means to be human, what is the soul, what is it to live millions of years, but without dreams, what is sacrifice, and what is love. This film is a desire to see a science fiction film with ideas, facts, and not be a whiz-bang shoot em up space opera. The story is compelling because the drama is about man dealing with the ever changing technology that may eventually replace him. The special effects will be done in old fashioned, non-CGI, all practical in camera effects without the use of computer generated imagery. Films like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Silent Running, Blade Runner, Solaris Alien, Soviet science fiction films, and other thought provoking cinema that one doesnt get to see much of these days are part of the inspiration and stepping off point to address current real world concerns.
