Nebulizer part 1. This is something I recommend to every rescue. What you are seeing here is a nebulizer. The same machine people use to breathe in asthma medication. When a cat or kitten develops an upper respiratory infection, pneumonia or allergies this is a great treatment option. You simply add an injectable antibiotic 1.25mls with saline 4.75mls totally 6mls into the medicine cup. You put kittens or cats into the chamber (which I build using a clear plastic tote with a good seal). You leave them in the tote for 30 minutes. No they will not suffocate! You do this twice a day for a few days. Many times one treatment is even enough. The medication goes directly to the source of the problem (through the nasal cavity/mouth and into the lungs). The medication is readily available at farm stores without prescription and this SAVES LIVES. It is less expensive and typically more effective for these type of problems than oral antibiotics. At one point I had tried to raise money to build these so I could provide them to rescues. Didnt go over too well lol. But once you have tried it and have seen the positive results you know its a necessity to have on hand.
