Need food recommendations for Vancouver, British Columbia! Emphasis on Vancouver/west-coast specialities and in general anything I cant get or cant get at this level of quality in Montreal. Here is my current Vancouver food list, with *asterisks at places Ive been to: ----- stephanie guico Motomachi Shokudo, 740 Denman. Charcoal ramen. Youre welcome. patrick hung Fish Tacos: Tacofino food truck on Howe @ Robson at lunchtime. If you head to Tofino on the island, they have a truck there too. *Chinese: Have the crab with sticky rice at Ho Yuen Kee on Fraser between 46 & 47. *Malaysian: Banana Leaf... Multiple locations but I think the best is on West Broadway between Oak & Cambie. Japanese: Kadoya on Denman, just east of Thurlow, or on Denman near Davie. Vietnamese: Mui Ngo Gai on Kingsway at Victoria or Pho Tan on Main at 30th (I think thats the cross street). Donair: Bablyon, multiple locations in the West End. Patio: the Cactus Club at English Bay has a really nice view. Foods decent too. Oh, Tacofino has a restaurant now too... Hastings at Nanaimo. Japanese Ramen: Santouka on Robson somewhere near Cardero. Thai: SalaThai on Burrard at Smithe. *cheaper Chinese... Congee Noodle House on Broadway between Main & Quebec. *Cambodian: Phnom Penh on Georgia between Main & Gore in Chinatown. REALLY busy at lunch & dinner time though. The beef luc lac with egg is good. Better than any one I had when I was in Cambodia for 3-months. Cheaper Thai: Thai Basil on Thurlow at Davie. good Japanese eateries near vancouver park fest are The Eatery @ 3431 West Broadway Kuma Japanese at 3446 Dunbar. Kuma serves okonomiyaki as well. Patrick Hung Yup, Kadoya is good. 2 locations, as mentioned in my post above... but an error, I meant on DAVIE just east of Thurlow, and on Denman near Davie. The Denman location is less busy. There are often lineups at the Davie location. Don Nguyen Anton Pasta if youre up for a challenge. Only 1% of its clientele are ever able to finish a plate in a single attempt. *Sarah Stupar JAPADOG! japadog/ *Patrick Hung Oh, yeah, Japadog too! The Oroshi is the best! Patrick Hung Oh, if you want Italian, theres a hole in the wall called Kinemis Kitchen at 7751 Champlain Crescent. Not a big menu, but the pastas good. Avoid the pizza though. Run by a Japanese/Chinese (or Korean?) couple. Cheap too. Patrick Hung Fish & chips at Go Fish Ocean Emporium... on the seawall across from Granville Island... to the west of GI, same side of the creek. Their Halibut sandwich is good! Patrick Hung Greek: Takis on Davie just west of Thurlow. Good lamb there. Some may suggest Stephos which is a few doors down. Stephos is cheap, but the lineups can be VERY long. Food wasnt great the last time I went many years ago either. Not worth the wait. Go to Takis instead. Sasha Bateman My cousin runs La Belle Auberge in Ladner (near Richmond) for tasty French cuisine. And Kitsilano is a great neighborhood with cheap sushi joints aplenty. Please post updates on what you find!
