Need more supporters to sign on for this resolution for next months E-Board RESOLUTION Wal Mart Workers Right to Organize Without Retaliation WHEREAS, Wal-Mart is the largest retail employer in the United States, which promotes a business model of largely part time , low wage jobs without health insurance, benefits or career advancement; and, WHEREAS Wal-Mart workers from across the country recently walked off the job to take their grievances to the annual shareholder’s Wal-Mart shareholder’s meeting June 7, 2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas ; WHEREAS, May 2007 Human Rights Watch report found that Wal-Mart stands out in the sheer size and magnitude of its aggressive anti-union tactics and apparatus, aimed at opposing its workers from unionizing; a January 2013 National Labor Board memo cited that eighty charges were recently filed against Wal-Mart for attempting to prevent its workers from organizing; and workers returned from strike under fear of retaliation; and , said Wal-Mart workers returned to their jobs on June 10, 2013, under fear of management retaliation; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the California Democratic Party stands with labor, and with Wal-Mart workers’s right to unionize free of retaliation.
