Need of the hour is to take the nation into confidence: Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Karachi, Aug 3: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee’s Deputy Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said here on Friday that Pakistan’s situation demanded that the nation should be taken into confidence no matter how difficult or bitter it was. He was speaking to the participants of an Iftar-Dinner hosted by MQM in honour of elite of the city at Azizabad’s Jinnah Ground. The ceremony was largely attended by MQM Coordination Committee’s deputy conveners, members, Haq Parast legislators and people from different walks of life including, politicians, businessmen, traders, educationists, journalists, writers, poets and religious leaders. Describing the event as a representative gathering of all thinkers, writers, intellectuals, poets, columnists and opinion-makers, Dr Siddiqui said that the MQM chief Altaf Hussain expected from all of them that they would keep their differences aside and sit-gather for steering out the country from the serious crisis being faced by it, irrespective of their religious, political and ideological affiliations. “Altaf Hussain also want that this representative the Iftar Party should play its role in bringing an end to misunderstanding among the Pakistani nation and keeping it away from wishful thinking,” he remarked. At the outset, he deplored that although power has been transferred from one civilian government to another, the terrorism has not been contained. In this regard, he pointed out that Mr Hussain had, from the day one, been underscoring the need for evolving a joint and a comprehensive anti-terrorist policy with a consensus and hoped that the country would, Inshallah, come out of the present crises, if the nation remained united. He said that it was matter of satisfaction that there are elected government at the centre as well as all the four provinces, but even the continuation of democratic process has not yet succeeded in containing the acts of terrorism. However, the MQM with a view to bringing an end to the menace of terrorism would continue to extend it full cooperation to every elected government, Dr Siddqui added.
