Need some Japanese translation here: This bottle brush fly was a bluegill grabber last season. - Gold holo tinsel tag - #10 light wire hook - Black, hook length neck hackle - Whip finish and varnish thread head. I lay down a thread base and brush on a little head cement. Then tie in the tag and hackle. Wrap the tag, and tie off. Bring the thread back behind eye and palmer the hackle forward. Its is wound in tight wraps, one next to the other. Tie off behind the eye and form the head. Nothing could be easier, or simpler. The head cement on the base helps firm up the hackle and makes the fly tough. You can vary the size to suit your needs. I tie them down to #12. This rides high and supposedly simulates a mating cluster of midges, or a downed moth. It is supposed to also be a useful trout attractor. I dont do much trout fishing (like, never) but I know more than a few trout bums from Grandpas day used flies like it. You can snatch it beneath the surface or, wait till it sinks - then twitch it like a wet fly. Lastly, while its still afloat, raise your rod tip gently and skate it across the surface. Ive watched bluegill follow it like rats behind the Pied Piper. Maybe thats what I should call it... The Piper Fly!
