Need some help this Saturday! We have an amazing donation of six pallets of quality pet food coming to us on Saturday. The challenge is that it is coming in a semi and the pallets have to be moved from the semi to our storage here at the shelter. A semi cannot pull into our parking lot and doing transloading along the highway is not safe either. SO - we need volunteers and SIX 1/2 ton or larger pickups (straight sided please, not step-sides so a pallet can fit). Here is the challenge - I dont have a solid time for arrival yet and, of course, the truck driver is going to want to off-load and go on the rest of his route as quick as he can. I have worked out with Tom Overton (thank you Tom) to use the big parking lot behind Storage Binz (8416 US Highway 231, Wetumpka, Alabama 36092 - on the right on Hwy 231 just before you make the right turn onto Hwy 9 coming to the shelter - turn up Red Eagle Drive between the Chevron and Storage Binz) as the link up point since a pallet jack can then operate on the concrete. So, if you can help, need you to have some flexibility and if I can lock in a timeframe between today and tomorrow I will let all that can help know. Please either respond here or in a private message to the shelter Facebook or email me at [email protected] or call Rea at the shelter at 334-567-3377. I need to get a solid list I can communicate with quickly via text messaging/phone will be best. AND - volunteers with lots of muscles also would be great as we then have to stack all of this in our food buildings! Whew!
