Need to share an experience at The Winchester. Stepped out with - TopicsExpress

Need to share an experience at The Winchester. Stepped out with the wife for a casual bite, plus I needed some extra pork cheek for todays cassoulet (another page) so a half pig head was in order. My wife ordered the Arctic Char. Everything tasted great. My wife found a piece of cellophane on her fish. It was used to form the herb butter and sliced into a pad to top the fish. The garnish station just made a simple mistake by not removing it. She didnt bite into it, set it aside and continued enjoying our meal. Its something Ive done in the past myself. The service was great and we had no problems with our experience. Near the end of our meal my wife decided to politely let her know what she had found, as others in this situation may not be as understanding ... or possibly have a bit of a tizzy. She didnt get defensive in the least bit, apologized and thanked my wife for being cool about it... cuz it wasnt a big deal to us. Well a few minutes later to our surprise, Paul the owner was at tableside, apologizing profusely for the error, stating that she wouldnt be charged for her meal. We told him that the gesture wasnt necessary and that we were pleased with our experience. He wouldnt take no for an answer. Then came back with a dessert menu and offered us a complimentary finale of our choosing. They were excellent as well. During dessert I witnessed Paul on his knees with a bucket and a flashlight under a booth across from us cleaning up a spill for five minutes. Now thats hands on problem solving. There was no need to comp $31 dollars off our bill. The food was excellent, service was cheerful and attentive, with a real feeling that the people there care about owning a service minded shop. I made a point to stop Paul and thank him again, telling him he ran a good business. We will be back. Go pig head.
