Negotiation Update #6 Negotiations between your Union bargaining committee and General Dynamics – OTS continued Tuesday evening. Some progress was made on the contentious issue of health care insurance. More work must be done on this issue. The parties will meet again on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. The Company continues to maintain its position that the Defined Benefit Plan would be closed to new hires and the monthly benefits under the Defined Benefit Plan for current active participants would not be increased for prior years of service. Its wage proposal continues to be a $650 lump sum in Year 1; a 2% wage increase in Year 2; a $1,000 lump sum in Year 3; and, a 2% wage increase in Year 4. At this time, it is not known when a meeting of the membership will be held to consider and to vote on a Company Final Offer. Your Union bargaining committee is committed to working diligently at the bargaining table to achieve the best possible contract proposal for your consideration in a ratification vote. We don’t know, as of today, how long it may take to meet that commitment. The members of Local 15009 will be provided ample prior notice of the date, time, and place of a ratification meeting. In addition, prior to ratification meeting a complete copy of the Company’s Final Offer as well as a Union-prepared Summary of the Company’s Final Offer will be distributed to all members of Local 15009. We will continue to keep you informed about all significant developments that occur during the collective bargaining process.
