Nehemiah 6:17 - Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them. *Tobiah is an enemy of the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Tobiah is an enemy of Nehemiah, the Jew. Tobiah and his son had married Israelite women and so there was a political marriage which gave Tobiah and inside track to having communication with certain nobles of Judah. When political people (who do not believe in the righteousness of Gods Word) join with religious leaders (who desire power and recognition), there will be ungodly results. Church leaders must always keep a certain line of separation from others, if they are to effectively hear from God and speak for God. Political leaders love to have control over church leaders.
