Nehemiah prayed for His people: I pray, O Lord God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments, please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You. Nehemiah had received bad news about his people. They were in great distress, and the city he loved was in ruins. Instead of rushing to fix the situation, he turned to the sovereign God who is all-knowing and all-powerful. He poured out his heart. This is a picture of what we can do when our world crumbles. We can turn to the One who can fix it. Acknowledge who God is and confess sin. He will forgive us and cleanse us. We can tell Him everything. He can see the big picture. ~part of this is by Jan Silvious~ As we think of our own nation and those around us, lets keep in prayer. Lets pour our hearts out to God and trust Him to handle the situation.
