Work involves assisting Inspectors on complex or sensitive projects, conducting quality control reviews, coaching and counseling to improve performance, providing input concerning performance appraisals, assisting in training and instruction, evaluating and distributing inspections and special assignments and assisting Inspectors in establishing daily schedules of inspections. The current work is at North County Government Center with possible transfers to other county locations in the future. Examples of Duties: Assist lower level workers on complex or sensitive projects, conduct quality control reviews and assist in establishing daily schedules of inspections. Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment installation, mechanical equipment and systems, property maintenance and plumbing systems on residential, commercial and industrial buildings by making detailed examinations of sites, evaluating materials, methods and practices, preparing accurate reports, issuing violation notices, controlling work hazards, and testifying in hearings. Inspect buildings for emergency preparedness program support. Enforce codes and ordinances for property maintenance and re-occupancy. Perform administrative and enforcement tasks. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to five years of experience in building construction and maintenance, field inspection or other related work.
