Neil deGrasse Tyson is is doing a commendable job at getting the message out to the Wheres Waldo crowd of math and science illiterates whose spectrum of attention would otherwise be evenly divided between Chuck Norris and Bill OReilly . Like most of todays intellectual superheros he is a professed secular humanist and a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. He is enough of a showman to capture the attention of those who commonly insist that history began 200 years ago with the framing of the US Constitution or two thousand years ago with the rebirth of an overused pagan myth proclaiming human redemption delivered by the son of a magical god. He correctly explains that the true gestation period for a human being (and related apes) was 13.7 billion years; that we, literally, are stardust, and that the imaginary line between living and non-living matter is a very blurry one. ...bz
