Nelfa was waiting for her ride home from school when a man was texting and driving ran her over and dragged her little body down the street. Update on Nelfa | They want to take the leg. Too much infection. The antibiotics have dropped her nuero score from 6 to 5. The neurologist basically said its a choice between possibly having her without a leg or almost certainly loosing her with the leg. Surgery will be either late tonight or early am. That leaves about ten hours left to pray that God saves her leg. Talking to her actual attending learned some new information. The left femur has spiral fracture the full length of the bone. The area around it is infected. Muscle and nerves are missing. Even if she kept the leg it would be non-responsive. Earlier we were told there was no brain trauma. There is no visible brain trauma but, according to the pediatric nuerologist, the entire brain suffered microscopic trauma and her skull is in fact fractured. Shes in a coma. We had the burden of explaining to her parents why they have to consent to the amputation. We saw Nelfa in her ICU room. Even with the bruises shes such a beautiful little girl. #PrayForNelfa They also need to get a brace for her jaw
