Neocons deserve criticism, but not for the reason Salons @eliasisquith gives in this piece. Isquith takes issue with Victor Davis Hanson tweeting Evil is ancient, unchanging, and with us always alongside pictures of Tolkiens Orcs and a newspaper cover showing Foley being murdered by ISIS. Unlike Isquith, VDH believes (correctly, in my opinion) that Man is a flawed creature with base impulses who is not evolving for the better over time (a basic liberal fantasy), a point he succinctly conveyed in his tweet. VDH and other neocons arent wrong about human nature; theyre wrong in thinking that such justifies widespread and aggressive military intervention by our country into other countries affairs.
