Nepal lost to Uganda by 2 runs in its first match under the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 held at Affies Park stadium of Windhoek in Namibia on Saturday. Batting first after winning the toss, Uganda had posted a meager total of 146 runs, loosing all its wickets in 49.5 overs, according to espncricinfo. However, Nepal made a mess out of the small victory target of 147 runs and lost the game in the penultimate ball of the match. Nepal was all out in the last ball of the match with 144 runs on the board. Gyanendra Malla was the highest scorer for Nepal with 34 runs followed by Subas Khakurel with 32 runs. Shakti Gauchan (19), Naresh Budayair (16) and Basant Regmi (15) were other notable contributors for Nepal. For Uganda, Henry Ssenyondo took three wickets while Davis Karashani and Frank Nsubuga took two each. Karashani bagged the man-of-the-match award for his all-round performance including two wickets by giving away just 31 runs in 10 overs and scoring 23 runs. Earlier, Brian Masaba top-scored for Uganda with 40 runs followed by Arthur Kyobe and Davis Karashani, who scored 23 runs each. Nepali captain Paras Khadka was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets giving away 14 runs in 9 overs while Basant Regmi and Sompal Kami took two wickets each. Nepal as Division Three Champion and Uganda as the first runner up had secured their position in the Division Two after ICC World League Cricket Division 3 held in Malaysia in 2013. Under the Division Two tournament held on a round robin basis, Nepal, Uganda, the Netherlands, Kenya, Canada and host Namibia are competing for the title. The final of the tournament will be held on January 24, with the top two teams qualifying for the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015-17 and ICC World League Championship.
